To spread the word about colorectal cancer, NBC TODAY show co-anchor Katie Couric, with renowned cancer fund raiser Lilly Tartikoff and Entertainment Industry Foundation, recently founded the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA). The goals of NCCRA are to increase public awareness about the seriousness of colorectal cancer, increase the number of people receiving screening for colorectal cancer, and to raise funds for colorectal cancer research. To meet these goals, NCCRA launched its web site that contains useful information for the general public. There is a section on basic colorectal cancer that provides information on risk factors, prevention and screening. An easy-to-follow checklist is also included. There is even information on current research studies.
