Cancer Genetics Resources at Howard University Cancer Center

Howard University Cancer Center provides the following genetic counseling services:
genetic cancer risk assessment
education on preventive actions
education about potential risk to other family members
education about genetic tests for genes associated with the development of breast and ovarian cancer
counseling explaining the significance of test results
psychological counseling for an inherited cancer

Patients with any of the following criteria should be referred for genetic counseling:
cancer with a well-recognized genetic basis
2 or more cases of the same cancer among first-degree relatives
multiple types of cancer within the family
molecular tests showing evidence of an inherited variant strongly associated with a particular cancer
