Gloria M. Petersen, PhD
Dr. Petersen is the principal investigator for the Mid-Atlantic Cancer Genetics Network (MACGN). She chairs the MACGN Steering Committee and is also Associate Professor in the Human Genetics Program of the Department of Epidemiology. She has a joint appointment in the Oncology Center of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is certified as a Ph.D. Medical Geneticist by the American Board of Medical Genetics. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology"s Task Force, the American Cancer Society"s Advisory Board on Colon Cancer, and American Cancer Society"s Cancer Genetics Education Committee.
Dr. Petersen is an expert
on the genetic epidemiology of cancer susceptibility and on issues related
to genetic testing and screening for hereditary cancer. She has been the
principal investigator on several research studies including genetic testing
for hereditary colorectal cancer, genetic epidemiology of hereditary colorectal
cancer, family studies of lung cancer, and a family study of pancreas cancer.
